L-O-V-E

The other day I was up in the mountains snowboarding. When I think of things I love in life, snowboarding and being in the mountains ranks high on my list. It’s something solitary I do, like running that I carve out time for. Unless I’m stupidly busy or injured, there is no one who can take that happiness away from me.

Just last week while I was on the flight back to Los Angeles from the i Date 2008 conference in Florida, I heard a quote from the movie Akeelah and the Bee Akeelah and the Bee movie info. and it reminded me of how I feel when I’m snowboarding and in the mountains.

It goes like this…

Akeelah: “You know that feeling where everything feels right? Where you don’t have to worry about tomorrow or yesterday, where you feel safe and know you’re doing the best you can? There’s a word for that, it’s called love.
L-O-V-E.”

And, well… if it could be captured in pictures, for me it looks something like this:

I actually was going to use Akeelah’s quote in some way, shape or form for Valentine’s Day, but it was that old saying: “A picture is worth a thousand words;” that made me realize posting it now was better. Plus, now it doesn’t have the holiday pressures of the 14th, especially since my blog and the BOLD site are built around dating.

I believe as a single woman it’s even more important to live life doing the types of activities you love and not stressing about what you do or don’t have in terms of a significant other. For me, love truly does come in different ways and it’s not restricted to another person or a relationship.

So whether you are alone, involved, or snowboarding, remember to do something that nourishes you regardless of the day and L-O-V-E yourself!

Happy Pre-Valentine’s Day!
