Thursday’s Thoughts From a Bartender: Gay Mobile Apps
- by Jennifer on June 16th, 2011
There’s an App for that.
Sometimes I used to laugh at that phrase “there’s someone out there for everyone.” But the older I get, the more I realize how true that is—everyone is someone’s type. Sometimes it’s just harder to find out who you fit with. I’m a fairly oddball, and I know I’m not compatible with a lot of guys—whether it be because of my physical appearance, or my mental state, or my emotional landscape. Click here to read more…
Thursday’s Thoughts From a Bartender: Getting Hit on at a Gay Bar
- by Jennifer on June 9th, 2011
One thing you have to respect about a drunk homosexual at a bar is his brazen straightforwardness. My mother told me once that patience is a virtue—one that I’ve never really embraced. I think that subtlety be a virtue as well, one that many gay men might attempt to learn. And, while I respect an aggressive approach when it comes to getting hit on, when you have a complete disregard for social norms or PERSONAL SPACE, it can come across as, well, incredibly fucking creepy. Thursday’s Thoughts From a Bartender: Dating and Mating in the Gay Community
- by Jennifer on June 2nd, 2011
Dating in the gay community is an entirely different monster than the heterosexual hook-up. The main difference, I’ve found, is sex. It seems to be almost exclusively about it. We’re all so desperate to have as much sex as we can—we’re acting like they’re going to run out of sex tomorrow, so we might as well get as much sexy time in before it’s gone. And I get it, I love sex. Click here to read more…
Thursday’s Thoughts From a Bartender: Dating a Bad Driver
- by Jennifer on May 26th, 2011
By Daniel Ponsky
Where is it written that the driver in the vehicle is the only one who has to pay attention to the road being driven? Nowhere and that’s just the way I like it. I mean let’s be real, I’m supposed to trust one person driving my life around a million other cars and not pay attention to what’s going on? Yeah, right, you wish. To be truthful though, I have driving issues. Click here to read more…
Thursday’s Thoughts From a Bartender: Are Different Tastes in Music a Deal Breaker?
- by Jennifer on May 19th, 2011
By: Daniel Ponsky
Very few people have a super developed instinct that allows them to vibe and understand someone without ever having talked to them. I myself sometimes have an uncanny ability that tunes me into the most random people. Sometimes it is in their walk, or expression, or reaction to a situation that tunes me in but whatever “it” is, I always end up being able to tell about 80% of the time who someone is, where their from and where they are going in life. Though I am not completely sure, Click here to read more…
Thursday’s Thoughts From a Bartender: My Date Tells Me What to Do
- by Jennifer on May 12th, 2011

What is it inside of us human beings that stir our attraction for others? No easy question if you think about all of the different people you know and then think about the reasons why you like them. Is it on personal, social or business terms? Do they help make you money in your profession or simply have love for you because you have known them for forever and that’s just who they are. The point I am trying to get at is Click here to read more…
Thursday’s Thoughts From a Bartender: First Mother’s Day With Her Family

For the record, there probably isn’t a date on the calendar with more pressure than this one for a dude.
As men we handle our business twenty-four hours a day seven days a week–but having to be on point for your lady’s mom’s and family, now that’s a whole other level of constructive conductibility that needs to be handled gently and with kit gloves Click here to read more…
Thursday’s Thoughts From a Bartender: Passing Out During Sex
- by Jennifer on April 28th, 2011
By Daniel Ponsky
What makes a great lover great? Is it passionate unpredictability between the sheets? Is it the way they kiss, or smell or tease your uninhibited senses into an intoxicating carousel of sexual prowess? Whatever it is that hits the pleasure button within you, one thing is for sure. For that button to be engaged, the person hitting it needs to be awake. Click here to read more…
Thursday’s Thoughts From a Bartender: Burping Loudly in Public
- by Jennifer on April 21st, 2011
By Daniel Ponsky
There are very few things that can absolutely change a moment in your life the second they happen. A baby’s cry can stir up the most dormant of emotions in us that might range from a gentle concern of “Oh, poor baby, I hope he’s ok?” to “Jesus, somebody shut that frickin kid up!” Other times a glass may fall and break or you may have to slam on the breaks at an oncoming yellow street light because you notice a cop in your rearview mirror last second. When facing the world as a single, there are certain bottom-line dating standards that I am quite sure all of us have. These standards help set the framework when it comes to whom we chose to spend our time with. Each piece answers a question to help unscramble the puzzle of our dating like’s and dislikes, What is it that attracts us to those people? Is it the way they talk? Is it the way they dress?
